City of Tampere looks for climate partners

City of Tampere aims to be carbon neutral by 2030. This means that at least 80% of the emissions are reduced and the rest compensated in an appropriate way. Much of the emissions come from private companies, communities and residents. That is why City of Tampere is launching Tampere Region Climate Partnership for companies and communities.

In the Climate Partnership, companies and communities commit to the carbon neutrality goal by identifying key emissions of their operations and making a plan to reduce them. They can also tell how their decisions affect someone else’s emissions account.

Each participant in the Climate Partnership will be allowed to do climate work in his or her own way, and bring out at least one climate action each year, which will be communicated to clients and residents, says Program Manager Laura Inha from City of Tampere.

Tampere Region Climate Partners meet regularly for networking events such as breakfast meetings and the annual Tampere Region Climate Forum. In the meetings networking is enabled, new partners introduced, and good practices shared. City of Tampere communicates the actions of Climate Partners and gives the companies and communities that make the commitment a logo that can be used in communications. Through the Climate Partnership, companies and communities gain visibility and awareness of their climate action, as well as guidance and tools for climate work.

Climate Partnership will be introduced and explained in more detail in an event held on 26 March. More information about the event (in Finnish): https://businesstampere.com/fi/?event=tule-mukaan-tampereen-seudun-ilmastokumppanuustoimintaan
