The procurement of an IoT platform is proceeding to a negotiation phase

The City of Tampere launched the procurement of the IoT (Internet of Things) platform, the outdoor lighting control system and the urban environment sensing in October 2019. Six companies have now been selected on the basis of applications for competitive dialogue.

The companies selected are Caverion Suomi Oy, Gofore Oyj, ISS Palvelut Oy, Tampereen Sähkölaitos Oy, Tampereen Vera Oy and Wapice Oy. The aim of the following negotiations is to identify ways to best meet the needs of the city. At the end of the negotiations, the companies submit bids, which will be evaluated and scored.

The city acquires  the IoT platform and two related implementations as a comprehensive service: urban outdoor lighting control system and urban environment sensing.

As far as we know a similar entity has not yet been acquired in Europe. In that way Tampere is a pioneer, says Project Manager Maarit Vehviläinen from the City of Tampere.

The contract will be awarded through a competitive dialogue for a period of ten years. A total of 12 applications were received.
