Through the events, as many people as possible can get to know how innovative, digital and sustainable smart city solutions have been created in Tampere Region. Valoa Pimeyteen -science event
Valoa Pimeyteen (Light the Darkness) event lets you explore what an intelligent city can mean. The event will provide information and an opportunity to explore different perspectives, services, applications and practical issues related to smart city development.
There will be a wealth of things to see, do and experience for the citizens both children and adults as well as the senior citizens at Tampere-hall on saturday 25th of January. This event is organised by Tampere University.
Event is for everyone and free of charge.
Nordic Drone Event 2020
Nordic Drone conference focusing on observation and protection of the Arctic environment.
The event is organized by Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
The event is subject to a fee and is only for invitation guests.
Monitoimitalo 13 (Multifunctional House 13) is hosting a great E-sports day for all ages to explore E-sports! On Monday, Smart City Week will host a variety of professional speakers, see e-sports matches on display and get to know the exciting and in-depth concept of gaming.

International Conference & Business Expo
An important goal of the week is to strengthen collaboration between businesses, universities, research institutes and cities, enabling the emergence of new internationally scalable smart city solutions, newest technologies and business models.
SMART CITY MINDTREK 2020 is an event that creates innovation, strengthens and supports development. It’s all about networking and exchanging ideas with people who come from different backgrounds and who have different areas of expertise.
Tampere is a fruitful innovation platform for companies. The city wants to make sure that the mobility and construction are intelligently executed. A smart tram, a unique Deck and a multi-purpose arena, underground parking, tunnels and other logistical structures create an energetic urban environment.
Tampere 2026 European Capital of Culture Candidate
Tampere and the Tampere Region are together applying to become a European Capital of Culture 2026. Capital of Equality is the overarching theme. We want to permanently increase the quality of life of our residents and strengthen the Tampere Region’s cultural expression without forgetting the international aspect.
The ECoC international conference will discuss the topic of digitalization and equality. Is digitalization fostering the equality or increasing the inequality?

Long history of the manufacturing industry and the next 100 years
Pirkanmaa has a strong industrial tradition and so far it has been a competitive operating environment. The aim of this event is to highlight the history of manufacturing industry in Pirkanmaa region, and to bring forward and discuss common themes that are important for competitiveness from different perspectives. How will we ensure a competitive operating environment in the future? How do the manufacturing industry, business and culture in Pirkanmaa intertwine?
The event is a joint production between Tampere Chamber of Commerce, Business Tampere and City of Tampere. The event is a continuation to last year’s Investor & Business Forum Tampere event.
