Tampere, situated in the Pirkanmaa region in the southwest of Finland, is the third biggest city in the country.
International and domestic travel connections to Tampere are excellent: The Tampere Airport, the proximity to other major cities like Helsinki and Turku, the Central Train Station as well as developed roads with little traffic make Tampere a destination which is easy to reach – by air and by land!

The Tampere Smart City Week events are located right in the center of Tampere, so they are easy to reach from anywhere in the city and from outside of the city.

Arriving to Tampere

Flying to Tampere

Tampere-Pirkkala International Airport is located just a 16km from Tampere city centre. Airport can be reached easily via Helsinki with Finnair, via Stockholm, Sweden with SAS, and via Riga, Latvia with airBaltic. With these airlines you can reach Tampere by air from over 300 cities all over the world.

-Local Buses (Nysse 1A) from the airport to the city centre run every 20min, cost only €3 and takes approximately 40 minutes.
-Taxi will cost you €30-40 and take only 20minutes.
-If you like to rent a car, there are several options available at the airport. European driver’s license requested.

 

Arriving from Helsinki to Tampere

By Train
Tampere can easily be reached by trains leaving from the Helsinki Central Station, but also by the train station located in the Airport Helsinki-Vantaa. For further information on available connections and ticket prices, please check the Finnish Railways website. 

By Bus

Getting around in Tampere

Tampere’s beautiful city center can easily be explored by foot, as Tampere is very pedestrian friendly. For navigation, maps of Tampere can be accessed via map phone applications and you can also find maps for mobile download and for printing out by Visit Tampere.

Public Transport

Bicycles and E-Scooters
In Tampere’s city center bicycle paths can be found nearly everywhere. Tampere offers different bike rental services.
Furthermore, VOIs and TIERs offer their service in Tampere. Their E-Scooters can be found at different points in the city.
