Smart Tampere and Digita offer a LoRaWAN network for testing new smart city solutions

Digita and Smart Tampere have started a LoRaWAN technology based IoT pilot in Tampere. During the pilot companies, research centers and the City of Tampere have an opportunity to test and develop new smart city solutions in the network. For example street lighting control and monitoring the indoor air quality of buildings can be experimented. The pilot is part of the series of agile experiments of Smart Tampere.

The LoRaWAN network enables producing smart services with battery powered and cost-efficient sensors. Introduction of new measurement services is easy and cost-efficient due to extremely small power consumption and comprehensive network. Digita builds a “deep-indoor” level network where different organizations can develop their IoT services. The network scales up to millions of end devices in Tampere. LoRaWAN is an open technology standard, which enables open competition and diverse supplier ecosystem.

Companies and other organizations can utilize the LoRaWAN network until the end of May 2020. If you are interested to use the network please contact Markku Niemi (markku.niemi(at)businesstampere.com).

Digita offers socially critical telecommunications services. Digita has 180 employees and it builds, monitors and sustains national IoT network. Smart Tampere is the City’s strategic development program, implemented by Business Tampere and the City of Tampere.
