The procurement of the Tampere’s IoT platform was chosen as the most skillful of the year

The procurement of the City of Tampere’s IoT platform has been named the most skillful of the year together with the acquisition of HUS Logistics’ research gloves. According to the jury of the Finnish Public Procurement Advisory Unit, both procurements were united by courage and pioneering spirit. The winners were announced at the awards gala held on April 13th.

In the procurement of the IoT (Internet of Things) platform, the outdoor lighting control system and the urban environment sensing, the jury especially appreciated the fact that Tampere is also a pioneer internationally. It was a technically interesting entity that serves the city’s strategic goals. The city uses ecosystem thinking to create a new kind of activity. In addition, with smarter control of outdoor lighting, it is possible to achieve emission reductions and reduce costs.

The acquisition of Tampere was also chosen as a public favorite: it received 33% of the votes cast.

Procurements made in 2019 and 2020 were allowed to be nominated for the second competition. The advisory unit awards the prize to the organization that made the procurement, the acquisition of which as a whole has been successful and implemented with special skill by the means made possible by the Procurement Act.

The Public Procurement Advisory Unit is a unit maintained by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, which provides information on the application of the regulation of public procurement and strives to increase procurement expertise.
